Who might be able to join this trial:
Criteria that apply to both groups:
- People who are female and over 45 years old
- People who have been treated with a cone biopsy (a surgical procedure to remove abnormal tissue from the cervix) for a high-grade abnormal cervical lesion
- People whose HPV test came back positive at a follow-up check around 6 months after surgery (between 6 and 12 months is accepted), leading to a recommendation for a follow-up colposcopy with or without biopsy
- People who had abnormalities found at their follow-up colposcopy or a positive biopsy result are still eligible, whether or not they have been vaccinated
Additional criteria for the vaccinated group (clinical trial):
- People who have no medical reason preventing them from receiving the Gardasil 9 HPV vaccine
- People who have agreed to receive the Gardasil 9 HPV vaccine
- People who are enrolled in the French social security system
- People who have given written informed consent to participate
- People living with HIV are eligible for the vaccinated group, provided they are currently on HIV treatment
Criteria for the non-vaccinated group (data study):
- People who meet the general criteria above but are not joining the vaccinated group, either because they declined vaccination or have a medical reason preventing vaccination
- People who do not object to their personal data being used for research purposes
- Note: Someone who initially declined vaccination may later choose to join the vaccinated group by signing a consent form, provided vaccination begins within 6 months of the initial positive HPV test
Who may not be able to join:
For both groups:
- People who have previously received a primary course of HPV vaccination
- People who have a history of an invasive cancer caused by HPV, including cervical, vaginal, vulvar, anal, or throat cancer
For the vaccinated group only:
- People who decline HPV vaccination
- People who have a medical reason that prevents them from receiving the Gardasil 9 vaccine
- People who are currently detained or under legal guardianship
For the non-vaccinated group only:
- People who object to their personal data being used for research purposes
