Who might be able to join this trial:
This trial has three groups. The criteria for each group are listed below.
Groups 1 and 2 – Women recently diagnosed with an ovarian or pelvic mass:
- Women aged 21 years or older
- People who have been diagnosed with any type of ovarian or pelvic mass
- People who have not yet received any treatment for ovarian cancer (if cancer has already been diagnosed)
- People whose doctor is planning to carry out a biopsy, surgery, or other diagnostic procedure to investigate the ovarian or pelvic mass (if a diagnosis has not already been made before joining the trial)
Group 3 – Women without ovarian cancer (a comparison group):
- Women aged 21 years or older who do not have ovarian cancer
Who may not be able to join:
Groups 1 and 2 – Women recently diagnosed with an ovarian or pelvic mass:
- People who currently have another active cancer
- People who have been diagnosed with any other cancer in the last 6 months (except certain skin cancers or a very early-stage cervical condition known as carcinoma in situ)
- People who have received treatment for any other cancer in the last 6 months (except certain skin cancers or carcinoma in situ of the cervix — note that some ongoing hormone-based or maintenance therapies may still be allowed; confirm with trial site)
- People who are currently receiving chemotherapy, radiation, or other active treatments for ovarian cancer
- People who have already had their ovarian mass completely removed
- People who are unable to provide a blood sample
Group 3 – Women without ovarian cancer:
- People who currently have an active cancer, or who have been diagnosed with any cancer in the last 6 months (except certain skin cancers or carcinoma in situ of the cervix)
- People who have received treatment for any cancer in the last 6 months (except certain skin cancers or carcinoma in situ of the cervix)
- People who have been hospitalised or had surgery (other than minor procedures such as mole removal) in the last 8 weeks
- People with significantly reduced kidney function or who are on dialysis (confirm with trial site)
- People with significant liver problems, including liver failure, cirrhosis, or certain abnormal liver test results (confirm with trial site)
- People with advanced or severe heart failure (confirm with trial site)
- People with poorly managed diabetes, indicated by a blood sugar control marker above a certain level (confirm with trial site)
- People who have had a blood clot in a vein, a heart attack, or a stroke in the last 8 weeks
- People who are currently pregnant or have been pregnant in the last 12 weeks
- People who have received a blood transfusion in the last 8 weeks
- People with a personal history of ovarian cancer at any point in their life
- People who have had both ovaries and fallopian tubes surgically removed
- People who have had one or both ovaries surgically removed
- People who are unable to provide a blood sample
