Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 50 and 85 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with possible Alzheimer's disease dementia based on recognised international criteria, and whose brain scan (PET) or spinal fluid tests show specific markers consistent with Alzheimer's disease
- People whose memory and thinking test scores fall within a mild-to-moderate range, specifically an MMSE score of 18–26 and a CDR score of 0.5–1 (confirm with trial site if unsure what these mean for a specific person)
- People who are already taking an approved Alzheimer's medication (such as a cholinesterase inhibitor, memantine, or a related therapy) and whose dose has stayed the same for at least 12 weeks before the trial starts
- People who have at least one adult caregiver who can support them during the trial
- People (or their legal guardian) who are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a brain or nervous system condition other than Alzheimer's disease
- People whose brain MRI shows significant damage to blood vessels or other focal abnormalities in the brain
- People with a history of seizures or epilepsy (childhood febrile seizures are an exception)
- People who currently have major depression, or who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, other psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, or a substance-related disorder within the past 5 years
- People whose depression rating score (GDS) is 8 or higher at the start of the trial
- People with significant stroke-related disease, serious infection, cancer, or severe problems with the heart, liver, or kidneys
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have metal implants or devices in their body, such as a pacemaker or deep brain stimulator, or who have other reasons they cannot safely have TMS (brain stimulation) or MRI scans
- People who have taken part in another Alzheimer's-related clinical trial within the 6 months before joining this study
