Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are aged between 18 and 75 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (a specific type of throat/food pipe cancer) confirmed by a tissue sample test
- People whose cancer has been staged at a certain level based on standard medical staging guidelines, including cases where cancer may have spread to lymph nodes near the collarbone (confirm with trial site for full staging details)

- People who are expected to live for at least 3 months

- People who provide written consent to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a hole in their food pipe (esophageal perforation) or who are vomiting blood
- People who have an active autoimmune disease, or a history of autoimmune conditions such as autoimmune hepatitis, lung inflammation, eye inflammation, bowel inflammation, or certain thyroid conditions (some exceptions may apply — confirm with trial site)
- People who are allergic to the type of medication used in this trial, including PD-1 inhibitor injections or any of their ingredients
- People with serious or uncontrolled heart problems, such as significant heart failure, unstable chest pain, a heart attack within the past year, or a serious irregular heartbeat requiring treatment
- People with HIV or other immune system deficiencies, active hepatitis B or C infection, or active tuberculosis
- People who have had an active infection or an unexplained high fever (above 38.5°C) within the two weeks before joining the trial (unless the fever is believed to be caused by the cancer itself)
- People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or who are unwilling to use contraception during the trial
- People with other serious conditions, including significant mental illness, or other circumstances that the trial doctor believes could affect safety or the collection of trial data
