  • People who have diabetes that is not well controlled
  • People who have a blood disorder affecting clotting
  • People who take blood-thinning or anti-clotting medication that cannot be safely stopped at the time of blood collection
  • People who have a thyroid condition that is not well managed
  • People who have problems with alcohol, drug, or medication misuse
  • People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 35
  • People who have taken anti-inflammatory pain medicines (such as ibuprofen or similar) in the 3 days before their blood sample is taken
  • People with a heart or cardiovascular condition for which having 30 to 60 ml of blood drawn would not be safe
  • People whose recent blood test shows haemoglobin below 11 g/dl or platelets below 150,000 per mm³
  • Women who are pregnant or of childbearing potential
