Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who currently smoke or used to smoke, with a significant smoking history of more than 30 pack-years (a measure of how much someone has smoked over their lifetime), including former smokers who quit more than 15 years ago
- People who have been diagnosed with a lung condition called COPD (a chronic breathing disease) based on standard medical guidelines, and/or who have a condition called emphysema detected on a low-dose CT scan of the chest, and/or who have reduced lung function shown by a breathing test measuring how well the lungs transfer oxygen into the blood (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have recently had cancer, with the exception of certain less serious skin cancers (non-melanoma skin cancer or carcinoma in situ)
- People who have other serious medical conditions that significantly increase the risk of death
