Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with moderate or severe pancreatic insufficiency (where the pancreas is not producing enough digestive enzymes), measured using a specific symptom questionnaire with a score of 1.4 or higher.
- People who have been diagnosed with a sudden (acute), repeated sudden, or recent episode of pancreatic inflammation (pancreatitis), including cases where complications such as infection, fluid-filled cysts, or tissue damage have followed the initial episode.
- People who are currently admitted to hospital at the time of joining the study.
- People who are receiving at least half of their daily food and fluid intake through a feeding tube.
- People who are able and willing to give their formal agreement to take part in the study.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have chronic (long-term) pancreatitis.
- People who are currently on a breathing machine (ventilator) and are therefore unable to give their consent to participate.
- People who have an active cancer in the digestive tract.
- People who are receiving less than half of their nutritional needs through a feeding tube at the time of joining the study.
- People who are unable to tolerate any form of tube feeding.
