Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 14 years old or older
- You weigh less than 150 kg (about 330 lbs)
- You have been diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia through genetic testing
- Your walking ability falls within a specific middle range on a standard ataxia assessment scale called SARA (not too mildly or severely affected) (confirm with trial site)
- Your ability to maintain a stable standing posture falls within a specific middle range on the same SARA scale (confirm with trial site)
- You are able to walk at least 10 metres (about 33 feet), with or without a walking aid
- You are able to stand up without needing someone or something to support you
- Your overall Friedreich's Ataxia stage falls between stage 2 and 4 on the Friedreich Ataxia Rating Scale (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- You are under 14 years old
- Your ataxia was caused by something other than genetics (known as acquired ataxia)
- Your walking or standing scores on the SARA scale are either very low or very high, falling outside the required range (confirm with trial site)
- You are unable to walk at all
- You can walk, but less than 10 metres (about 33 feet)
- You can only stand with the support of another person or object
- You have another neurological condition in addition to Friedreich's Ataxia
- You are currently experiencing a major psychiatric condition, such as psychosis or severe depression
