Who might be able to join this trial:

• People aged 18 to 75 who have given their consent and have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (a type of inflammatory bowel condition affecting the large intestine) for at least 3 years.
• People whose ulcerative colitis is in "deep remission," meaning a colonoscopy performed within the last 12 months showed no signs of active inflammation in the tissue samples taken — or, if the most recent colonoscopy was within the last 3 years and showed the same result, a consistently normal stool test result (called a calprotectin test) may be accepted instead (confirm with trial site).
• People who have been in full remission — with no symptoms, normal stool test results (calprotectin below 100), normal imaging, and no signs of inflammation on colonoscopy — since their last colonoscopy.

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have any signs of active inflammation, whether through symptoms, ultrasound, blood or stool tests, or colonoscopy findings in any part of the large intestine.
• People who have changed their ulcerative colitis treatment at any point after a colonoscopy confirmed their inflammation had settled.
• People who have used corticosteroid medications (a type of anti-inflammatory drug) after a colonoscopy confirmed their inflammation had settled.
• People who have a history of a liver condition called primary sclerosing cholangitis, or who have been found to have high-grade dysplasia (abnormal cells that could indicate a risk of cancer) that could not be seen clearly or was not removed.
• People who are pregnant or actively trying to become pregnant.
• People who would not be able to follow the required sample collection and monitoring schedule throughout the trial.
