Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older who have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (a condition causing inflammation of the large intestine) and have either started a medication called mirikizumab within the last 2 weeks, or are planning to start it within the next 2 weeks, as part of their standard medical care.
- People whose diagnosis of ulcerative colitis is confirmed through standard medical tests including clinical assessment, imaging, a camera examination of the bowel, and tissue samples.
- People who have experienced symptoms such as diarrhoea, rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, fever, weight loss, or related symptoms on more than one occasion at least 8 weeks apart, or continuously for at least 6 weeks.
- People whose bowel camera examination shows inflammation starting from the rectum and spreading upward in a continuous pattern, without signs of a related but different condition called Crohn's disease.
- People who are expected to continue being seen and monitored at the participating clinic for the next 12 months.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to give their own informed consent to participate.
- People who do not speak English.
- People who are attending the clinic for a single consultation only and are not regular patients there.
