Who might be able to join this trial:
Stroke survivors:
- Adults aged 18 or older who have had a brain injury caused by a stroke
- People who learned English at age 8 or younger
Control group (people without stroke):
- Adults aged 18 or older
- People who learned English at age 8 or younger
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a history of another brain condition (such as multiple sclerosis, dementia, or a head injury that caused loss of consciousness) that could affect how results are interpreted
- People with a severe psychiatric condition that would interfere with taking part in the study
- People with a diagnosed learning disorder
- People with hearing or vision loss that affects their ability to complete the study tasks, even when using glasses or hearing aids
- People who are unable to follow the study procedures, even with extra support
- People whose MRI scans cannot be done because they have metal in their body that is not safe for MRI machines
- People who are pregnant
- People who experience claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces), which could prevent them from having an MRI scan
