Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Adults between 18 and 75 years of age
  • People who have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (UC) for at least six months, regardless of what treatment they are currently receiving
  • People who are already scheduled to have an endoscopy (a camera procedure to look inside the bowel) to check their disease activity or to screen for cancer

Who may not be able to join:

  • People for whom an endoscopy or bowel biopsy (tissue sample) would be medically unsafe, such as those with a serious bowel complication called toxic megacolon, or those with severe blood clotting or platelet problems
  • People whose bowel was not adequately cleaned before the procedure, based on a specific scoring system used to measure bowel preparation quality
  • People with serious other health conditions that significantly limit life expectancy or make having an endoscopy high risk
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People who are not able to give informed consent to take part in the study
  • People who have taken part in another experimental trial within the last 30 days
