Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older
- People who have been diagnosed with a stroke confirmed by a brain scan (CT or MRI), or who have been diagnosed with a condition called Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy (CAA) using a specific set of medical guidelines called the Boston 2.0 criteria, or who have been diagnosed with a condition called Moyamoya disease using 2021 diagnostic guidelines
- People who score 23 or higher on a standard memory and thinking test called the MoCA
- People with little to no disability in daily life, as measured by a standard scale called the modified Rankin Scale (score of 2 or lower)
- People who are visiting the Besta Institute for the first time as a patient
- People who are able to understand and sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the study
- People who are able to have a brain MRI scan
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had brief neurological symptoms that went away within an hour and whose brain scan showed no abnormalities
- People who are under legal guardianship or whose freedom is restricted by a court or government decision
- People for whom follow-up appointments or ongoing contact with the trial team would not be possible
- People for whom having an MRI scan and/or a specific type of detailed blood vessel imaging called Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) is not medically safe (confirm with trial site)
- People who are pregnant
- People with a known or suspected problem with drug or alcohol misuse
