Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 to 75 years old (inclusive) who are able to give consent in writing and verbally
- People with a confirmed diagnosis of Crohn's disease affecting the small intestine (ileum) or both the small intestine and the large intestine (ileocolonic)
- People who have had surgery to remove a diseased section of the small intestine and/or the junction between the small and large intestine
Who may not be able to join:
- People diagnosed with indeterminate colitis, ulcerative colitis, or microscopic colitis (including collagenous or lymphocytic colitis)
- People who are taking certain medications after surgery to prevent Crohn's disease from coming back, including antibiotics, aminosalicylates, thiopurines, methotrexate, biologics, or small molecule drugs
- People who have had a previous similar bowel surgery for Crohn's disease, unless the treating doctor does not plan to start any other preventive treatment beyond the supplement being studied within the first 6 months after surgery (confirm with trial site)
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with a known allergy to shellfish, glycans, or glycan-related products
- People who have had abnormal cell changes (dysplasia) found on a bowel tissue sample
- People with a current or past diagnosis of cancer, except for skin cancer
- People with poorly controlled type 1 or type 2 diabetes, defined as an HbA1c blood sugar measure above 8%, or repeated episodes of serious blood sugar crises
- People with known bleeding disorders such as haemophilia or low platelet counts, or people taking blood-thinning medications such as warfarin or similar drugs
- People with a physical or mental health condition that, in the investigator's judgement, would make it difficult to give informed consent or fully participate in the trial
- People who are unwilling or unable to follow the study procedures as outlined in the trial protocol
