Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are at least 18 years old and are having a specific type of shoulder replacement surgery for the first time (called a "reverse total shoulder arthroplasty")
- The surgery must be taking place at one of three specific locations: Loyola University Medical Center (Maywood, IL), Loyola Ambulatory Surgery Center (Maywood, IL), or Gottlieb Memorial Hospital
Who may not be able to join:
- People under the age of 18
- People who have previously had a specific type of shoulder procedure involving a bone transfer near the front of the shoulder (called a "coracoid transfer") (confirm with trial site)
- People who are having shoulder replacement surgery to fix or replace a previous shoulder replacement (revision surgery)
- People who are currently pregnant — a urine pregnancy test is carried out before surgery as standard practice, and a positive result would mean the surgery and participation in the study would not go ahead
