Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years old or older and have a confirmed diagnosis of Crohn's disease
  • You have had surgery to remove a section of your intestine that can be examined with a camera (endoscopy)
  • Your surgery involved removing part of the small intestine and/or colon due to Crohn's disease or its complications, such as a narrowing or abnormal tunnel between organs, regardless of how the ends were joined back together
  • Your smoking status (whether you smoke or don't smoke) is clearly recorded in your medical notes
  • Your treatment and surgery took place between January 2000 and August 2024

Who may not be able to join:

  • You had a type of bowel surgery other than removal of a section of intestine, such as widening a narrowed section, bypassing part of the bowel, or stitching a tear
  • Your intestine was removed for a reason other than Crohn's disease, such as cancer or injury
  • You did not have a camera examination of the surgical join within 12 months after your operation
  • Your Crohn's disease diagnosis has not been formally confirmed
  • Your smoking habits are not clearly recorded or cannot be determined from your records
  • You have mixed smoking habits, meaning you smoke both regular cigarettes and e-cigarettes at the same time, or you switched from one to the other between your surgery and your follow-up camera examination
