Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are willing to give their informed consent to participate
- People who have been diagnosed with an ischemic stroke (caused by a blocked blood vessel) and/or a hemorrhagic stroke (caused by bleeding in the brain)
- People whose stroke-related disability falls within a moderate range, as measured by a standard medical scale called the Modified Rankin Scale (scores of 2 to 4)
- People who are currently attending rehabilitation sessions fewer than 3 days per week
- People who have a healthy caregiver available to support them
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently receiving palliative (end-of-life comfort) care
- People who have a major illness or serious condition that could affect their ability to take part — for example, a complete inability to understand or use language (global aphasia), dementia, multiple organ failure, or being unable to move due to a fracture (confirm with trial site for other conditions that may apply)
- People with moderate cognitive (thinking and memory) difficulties after their stroke, specifically a score below 22 on a standard memory and thinking test called the Montreal Cognitive Assessment
- People whose level of disability before their stroke was already above a certain point (a Modified Rankin Scale score greater than 1 before the stroke occurred)
- People who are currently taking part in another clinical intervention study at the same time
