Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 22 years of age or older, with or without a condition called Barrett's Esophagus (a change in the lining of the food pipe sometimes caused by acid reflux)
  • You have had a camera examination of your food pipe (called an endoscopy) within the last year
  • If you have Barrett's Esophagus: you have been diagnosed based on a tissue sample showing a specific type of cell change, have not yet had treatment for it, and are currently being monitored by your doctor
  • If you have long-term acid reflux (GERD): you have at least 3 additional risk factors that qualify you for Barrett's Esophagus screening according to current medical guidelines (confirm with trial site)

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are unable to read or understand the consent form
  • You have a tumour in your throat, food pipe, or where the food pipe meets the stomach
  • You are currently experiencing difficulty swallowing
  • You have a significant narrowing in your food pipe that is currently causing problems
  • You have a history of a narrowing in your food pipe that needed a procedure to widen it
  • You have a pacemaker or an implanted heart device (such as a defibrillator)
  • You have had surgery on your food pipe (except for a specific procedure called fundoplication)
  • You are pregnant
  • You have had surgery on your small intestine or have a blockage there
  • Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is greater than 38 (a measure of body weight relative to height)
