Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You were diagnosed with hemiplegia (weakness or paralysis on one side of the body) caused by a stroke, and you are receiving rehabilitation care at Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University Hospital
  • You are between 40 and 80 years old (male or female)
  • Your stroke happened at least 3 months ago
  • You are medically stable, able to take part in rehabilitation, and are willing to participate in the study regularly
  • You scored 15 or above on a short memory and thinking test (called the Mini Mental Test)
  • Your neurological condition is stable (not currently changing or getting worse)

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have a serious heart condition such as a narrowed aortic valve, angina, a thickened heart muscle, irregular heartbeat, or a pacemaker — or you have high blood pressure that is not well controlled
  • You have a history of epilepsy or are currently taking anti-epilepsy medication
  • You have any metal objects inside your skull
  • You have an implant inside your ear
  • You have significant problems with thinking, memory, or understanding (cognitive dysfunction)
  • You have nerve damage in your arm or hand (upper extremity peripheral nerve injury)
  • You have or have had cancer
  • You currently have an active infection
  • You have a skin infection or open wound in the area where the treatment would be applied
  • You have an inflammatory disease (confirm with trial site)
  • You have an orthopaedic injury that limits your ability to make full physical effort
  • You have a brain condition or take medication that could lower your seizure threshold (confirm with trial site)
  • You have raised pressure inside your skull
  • You have migraines that are not well controlled
  • You have severe stiffness or muscle tightness in your hand (rated 3 or above on a clinical scale)
  • You have a fixed, rigid tightening of the muscles or joints in your hand (contracture)
  • You have had a fracture or surgery on the affected (hemiplegic) side of your body in the last 6 months
  • You have severe problems with your vision
  • You have severe depression
