Who may not be able to join:

• People who have a progressive neurological condition such as dementia, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, or a brain tumour (as reported by the person themselves or someone close to them).
• People who are not able to give written consent to participate.
• People with severe communication difficulties due to aphasia (a condition affecting speech and language after stroke), based on a specific severity rating scale — those scoring 0 or 1 on the Boston Diagnostic Aphasia Examination.
• People who are currently receiving stroke rehabilitation or mental health treatment (though attending maintenance sessions, self-help groups, or couples therapy is allowed).
• People with a diagnosis of major depressive disorder, unless a doctor or counsellor has confirmed they have been receiving treatment for at least 4 weeks and has cleared them to take part.
• People with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder or a psychotic disorder.
• People who have had a substance use disorder within the past 3 months, as identified through a standard psychiatric interview tool.
