Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with a stroke that occurred more than 6 months ago
- People aged 50 or older
- People who are able to follow spoken and visual instructions
- People who have scored 22 or above on a standard memory and thinking test called the Montreal Cognitive Assessment
- People who are able to walk 10 metres, with or without a walking aid
- People who live in the community (not in a care facility) and whose stroke affected only one side of the body
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have another neurological condition, pain that affects their walking, or another health condition that prevents safe walking
- People who are currently receiving any formal rehabilitation program
- People for whom exercise may not be medically safe (for example, those with unstable chest pain)
- People who cannot safely undergo the brain scanning and brain stimulation techniques used in the trial, such as those with a skin injury on the scalp, a pacemaker, or metal implants in the brain
- People with a history of seizures or epilepsy
- People who are colour blind
- People who are unable to walk (with or without a walking aid) while also responding to prompts using a remote control
