Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older
- People who have been confirmed through tissue or cell testing to have a specific type of advanced lung cancer called squamous non-small cell lung cancer, at stage IIIB or IV
- People who have been diagnosed with stable moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) that is currently not in a flare-up, with a specific level of a blood cell type called eosinophils falling between 100 and 300 per microlitre
- People whose lung cancer genetic testing has shown no changes in a specific set of genes (EGFR, ALK, BRAF, ROS1, KRAS, HER2, MET, RET, or NTRK)
- People with a general health and activity level rated at 0, 1, or 2 on a standard medical scale (ECOG PS), meaning they are able to carry out daily activities at least to some degree
- People whose doctors have assessed them as suitable for a treatment combination involving a drug called suglizumab, two chemotherapy medicines (paclitaxel albumin-bound and carboplatin), and COPD inhalers (long-acting bronchodilators or inhaled corticosteroids)
- People for whom medical records of their treatments are available
- People who have previously used bronchodilator or inhaled corticosteroid inhalers, provided those inhalers have been stopped for at least 15 days before joining
- People who agree to take part voluntarily and sign a consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People who currently have another active cancer in addition to squamous non-small cell lung cancer
- People who have already received systemic treatment for advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer
- People who have a condition requiring long-term use of steroid medications taken by mouth or through a drip, such as autoimmune diseases, asthma, kidney inflammation, type 1 diabetes, or overactive thyroid
- People who have taken steroid medications by mouth or through a drip for any reason in the month before screening
- People whose doctors have assessed them as having serious liver or kidney problems
- People who are experiencing acute breathing failure, or who need ongoing support from a breathing machine, or who have had two or more moderate to severe COPD flare-ups in the past year
- People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant
- People who are currently enrolled in or planning to join another clinical trial
