Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You must be 18 years old or older with peripheral artery disease (PAD) that causes rest pain, minor tissue loss, or significant wounds/gangrene (this is called Rutherford Category 4, 5, or 6 — confirm with trial site if unsure which category applies to you)
  • You must have at least one blocked or narrowed artery below the knee (in the lower leg) in one or both legs
  • The affected artery must be a certain size — between 2.0 and 4.0 mm wide, as estimated by the doctor
  • The affected artery must be narrowed by more than 50%, as estimated by the doctor

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose peripheral artery disease is less severe (Rutherford categories 0, 1, 2, or 3 — meaning milder symptoms such as no symptoms, mild cramping, or moderate leg pain with walking)
  • People who are unwilling or unable to give written consent to take part in the study
  • People who cannot have an MRI scan (for example, due to certain metal implants or other medical reasons)
  • For one part of the study only (Aim 2): people who have a completely blocked artery (a total blockage with no blood flow through it) in the target area

Important: Always verify eligibility with the trial site directly before applying.
