Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are aged 65 or older.
- People who have been diagnosed with hip, knee, or general osteoarthritis, recorded using a standard medical diagnosis code.
- People who have confirmed through a standardised survey question that a doctor told them they have osteoarthritis or arthritis, and who report having hip and/or knee pain because of it.
- People who have been continuously enrolled for at least one year in a Humana Medicare Advantage health plan that includes free SilverSneakers membership and covers both medical care and prescription drugs.
- People who have not previously enrolled in, and are not currently enrolled in, the SilverSneakers fitness programme.
- People who speak English or Spanish.
- People who are considered able to understand and agree to participate, based on not having a recorded dementia diagnosis and being able to correctly answer three questions about the consent process.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who live in the same household as someone else who is already enrolling or enrolled in this study, as only one person per household is permitted to participate.
- People who are enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid at the same time, due to limited access to data for this group.
- People who are currently receiving hospice care or living in a long-term care facility under a specific Medicare arrangement, due to limited access to data for this group.
- People whose healthcare is provided through a "delegated provider" arrangement, due to limited access to data for this group (confirm with trial site if unsure whether this applies).
- People who do not have a current, valid mailing address on file in the Humana medical records system.
