Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 21 years of age or older
- People who had a stroke more than 6 months ago, confirmed by an MRI or CT scan
- People who have at least some voluntary movement in the fingers of the affected hand (a score of 1 or more on the finger extension part of the Fugl-Meyer Test)
- People who have adequate thinking and understanding abilities (confirm with trial site)
- People who have difficulty fully opening their affected hand
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have hemispatial neglect, which is a condition where someone has difficulty noticing things on one side of their body or surroundings (confirm with trial site)
- People who have severe loss of sensation, as measured by a specific stroke assessment tool (the NIH Stroke Scale)
- People who are currently taking or planning to take medications that reduce muscle stiffness or spasms during the study period
- People who are unable to fully straighten or bend their finger joints passively (without using their own muscle strength)
- People who are currently receiving physical therapy or occupational therapy outside of this study
- People who have significant pain in any joint of the affected arm or hand that could make it difficult to take part in the study activities
