Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have a PSA level between 4.0 and 10.0 ng/ml, or an abnormal prostate exam with a PSA level between 2.0 and 10.0 ng/ml, as shown in their lab results.
- People who have never had a prostate biopsy before, confirmed by their own report or medical records.
- Men aged 18 to 89 years old.
- People whose doctor (the principal investigator) has determined they have a life expectancy of at least 10 years.
- People whose medical records show they are able to carry out daily activities with little to no limitation (known as an ECOG performance status of 0–2 — confirm with trial site if unsure what this means).
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have taken a type of medication called a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor within the 12 months before enrolling, as shown in their medical records.
- People who have had a prostate infection within 1 month before enrolling, as confirmed by medical records.
- People who are currently receiving or have previously received any prostate cancer treatment, such as hormone therapy, surgery, radiation, or experimental drugs, as recorded in their medical records.
- People who have had an invasive urological procedure within 1 month before enrolling, as confirmed by medical records and their own report.
- People for whom the urologist determines a transrectal ultrasound (an internal scan via the rectum) cannot be performed.
- People who have a medical reason why they cannot have an MRI scan.
- People who are currently in prison, or men older than 89 years of age.
