Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are over 18 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with a deep vein thrombosis (DVT – a blood clot in a deep vein) that either happened on its own, was caused by a specific event (such as surgery), or is related to cancer
  • Your blood clot is located in a vein in one or both of your legs (either in the upper or lower part of the leg), and you had an ultrasound scan to confirm this within 6 months of being diagnosed
  • You are able to understand the trial and give your consent to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your blood clot is only in your arm or in another location in your body, and you do not also have a clot in your leg
  • You have a clot in a vein close to the skin surface (called a superficial clot), and you do not also have a deeper clot in your leg
  • Your blood clot is connected to or caused by a central venous catheter (a tube placed into a large vein, often for medical treatment)
  • You have been diagnosed with certain types of skin cancer (epithelial or basal cell carcinoma), as these are considered low-risk for the type of blood clot this trial is studying
