Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 22 years of age or older
- You are suspected of having inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), with symptoms such as stomach pain, diarrhea, changes in appetite, weight loss, or anemia
- You are able to provide a stool (poop) sample between 24 and 72 hours before, or between 3 and 30 days after, a scheduled bowel examination (colonoscopy or endoscopy)
- You are able to understand what the study involves, complete the required tasks, and sign a consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- You are unable or unwilling to provide a stool sample
- You have a known active intestinal cancer, or a previous intestinal cancer that is in remission but with abnormal test levels (as determined by your doctor)
- You have a known active intestinal infection, or a history of a treated intestinal infection where certain levels remain abnormal (as determined by your doctor)
- You have IBD and are currently receiving chemotherapy or strong immune-suppressing medications without having stopped them for at least 8 weeks beforehand
- You have a previous IBD diagnosis and have been treated with certain IBD medications (biologics or immunomodulators) without stopping them for at least 8 weeks, or certain other IBD medications (5-ASA) without stopping them for at least 4 weeks
- You have a previous IBD diagnosis and have had bowel surgery to remove or reroute part of your intestine
- You have a known condition affecting your upper digestive tract, such as inflammation of the esophagus or stomach, that could affect the test results
- You have taken anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen or aspirin on 7 or more days in the 2 weeks before providing your sample
- Your stool sample was not collected following the study's required instructions
- You have any other condition that the study doctor feels would make it unsafe or unsuitable for you to participate (confirm with trial site)
