Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with a type of blood cancer called AML (acute myeloid leukemia) or ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia), confirmed using current medical guidelines, and your doctor has determined you need a stem cell transplant from a donor
- Your AML has come back, did not respond to treatment, or was classified as high-risk when first diagnosed; OR your B-type ALL was high-risk at diagnosis or still shows signs of leukemia before transplant; OR you have been diagnosed with T-type ALL; OR your leukemia has affected your brain/spinal fluid or spread outside the bone marrow at any point
- You are between 15 and 65 years old
- Your overall health score (a measure doctors use called HCT-CI) is less than 2, and your ability to carry out daily activities is reasonably good (confirm with trial site)
- Your heart is working well, with good pumping function (ejection fraction of 55% or more) and no major heart failure symptoms
- Your kidneys are filtering blood well enough (confirm with trial site)
- Your liver function blood tests are within an acceptable range (confirm with trial site)
- Your blood oxygen level is above 92% without needing extra oxygen
- Your doctor expects you to live for at least 3 more months
- You are able to understand and willingly sign a consent form to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had another type of cancer and received treatment for it within the past 3 years
- You have or have had a neurological or brain condition such as epilepsy, stroke, dementia, Parkinson's disease, psychosis, or a related autoimmune disease affecting the brain or nervous system
- You have HIV, syphilis, or another serious active infection (bacterial, fungal, or viral) that is not under control
- You have an active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection
- You had a heart procedure (such as a stent or angioplasty) within the 12 months before joining the trial, or you currently have coronary heart disease symptoms needing medication
- You have a primary immune deficiency condition or an active autoimmune disease
- You have previously had a severe allergic reaction to any of the medications used in this trial
- You received a live vaccine within 6 weeks before being assessed for the trial
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or able to become pregnant but unwilling to use contraception during the trial
- You have a psychiatric illness or other condition that would make it difficult to follow the trial requirements
- The trial doctor does not consider you suitable for the study for any other reason
