Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 years or older
- People with suspected or confirmed advanced ovarian cancer (at a stage known as FIGO 3B or higher)
- People whose doctors are considering active cancer treatment, either surgery first followed by chemotherapy, or chemotherapy first followed by surgery
- People who have had a CT scan (a specific type called a portal venous phase CT) taken before any surgery or cancer treatment begins
- People whose cancer can be seen clearly on that CT scan, with visible disease measuring at least 2cm
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a known medical reason why they cannot have a CT scan with contrast dye injected into a vein — for example, a dye allergy, kidney failure, or being unable to lie flat
- People who are not able to give informed consent
- People who are known to be pregnant
- People whose cancer cannot be seen clearly on the CT scan, or where the visible disease measures less than 2cm
- People who have previously had surgery to remove an ovarian or fallopian tube mass (adnexal mass)
- People whose CT scan images are significantly affected by interference — for example, from metal implants — making it impossible to properly analyse the visible disease
- People who are only well enough for palliative (comfort-focused) care at the time they first present for treatment
