Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with axial spondyloarthritis (a type of inflammatory arthritis affecting the spine) based on recognised classification guidelines.
  • You are between 19 and 59 years old.
  • Your medications for this condition have stayed the same for at least the past 3 months, OR you have not taken any medication for this condition for at least the past 3 months.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have had bone surgery or a bone fracture in the past 12 months.
  • You have a history of heart disease, including blocked arteries, heart muscle disease, heart failure, or stroke.
  • Scans (X-ray or CT) have shown advanced spinal fusion, meaning at least two sections of your spine (neck, mid-back, or lower back) are fully fused or bridged together (confirm with trial site).
  • You have other problems with your muscles, bones, or joints that might affect your ability to exercise.
  • You have been diagnosed with cancer in the past 5 years.
  • You are currently pregnant.
  • You have been exercising regularly in the past 6 months, meaning at least 60 minutes per session, three or more times per week.
  • Your medications for axial spondyloarthritis change significantly during the study, such as starting or stopping certain specialist drugs, or making major changes to anti-inflammatory or steroid medications.
