Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People whose renal (kidney) artery is at least 4 mm wide and at least 20 mm long
  • People aged between 18 and 75 years, of any gender
  • People who are already scheduled for a keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery on their adrenal gland or kidney, such as for an adrenal tumour, early-stage kidney cancer, or a kidney cyst, and who meet the medical conditions required for that surgery
  • People with a confirmed diagnosis of high blood pressure — either not currently on blood pressure medication but with readings within a specific elevated range, or already taking blood pressure medication for at least 4 weeks
  • People whose kidneys are filtering at a sufficient level, based on a blood test result known as eGFR of 45 or above (confirm with trial site)
  • People who are willing and able to follow the study plan, sign a consent form, and attend follow-up appointments

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with a significant narrowing (50% or more) or structural problem in a kidney artery, or who have previously had a balloon procedure or stent placed in a kidney artery
  • People who have had a heart attack, unstable chest pain, or a stroke or similar event in the past 6 months, or who have serious arterial disease with clots or unstable plaques, or significant heart valve problems affecting blood flow
  • People who have previously had a catheter-based procedure to treat the nerves around the kidney arteries (renal sympathetic nerve ablation)
  • People with other serious organ or health conditions
  • People currently participating in another clinical study
  • People whom the trial doctor considers unsuitable for the study based on their medical judgement
