Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 to 80 years, of any gender
  • People who have been diagnosed with a spinal cord injury, a brainstem stroke, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), another motor neuron disease that causes partial or complete paralysis, or who have had both arms amputated
  • People whose diagnosis has been stable for at least 6 months before the screening visit, and whose condition has been present for at least 1 year
  • People who are willing and able to follow the study schedule and attend all required visits, with or without the help of a caregiver
  • People who have given informed consent — meaning they and/or their caregiver have signed the consent form with a full understanding of what the trial involves

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have previously had metal objects or devices implanted in their body (dental implants or certain non-impacting implants may be exceptions — confirm with trial site)
  • People who have been taking blood-thinning medications long-term and have not stopped them for long enough before the trial, or who have abnormal blood clotting test results
  • People who are unable to safely undergo anesthesia or surgery
  • People with serious neurological conditions or brain injuries that have caused significant loss of function
  • People with scalp conditions that could affect wound healing
  • People with active or severe infections
  • People with cognitive (thinking or memory) difficulties or psychiatric (mental health) disorders
  • People with serious problems affecting major organs, active cancer, or autoimmune diseases
  • People with a life expectancy of less than one year
  • People with a history of drug or alcohol misuse
  • People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the study period
  • People who the trial investigator considers unsuitable for other reasons (confirm with trial site)
