Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who can speak and read English
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who live in the Western New York area
- People who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, at any stage
- People who have finished their main breast cancer treatments (such as chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery, not including breast reconstruction)
- People in the mentor role must have finished their main treatments at least one year ago
- People in the mentee role must have finished their main treatments less than one year ago
- People who are still on hormonal therapy (such as tamoxifen) or waiting for breast reconstruction surgery are still considered to have completed main treatment and may be eligible
- While any breast cancer survivor may be considered, the trial will give priority to people who have recently moved into life after treatment, people who did not have access to support during that transition, and people who identify as African American
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently receiving chemotherapy, other systemic cancer therapies, or radiation treatment (note: ongoing hormonal therapy does not count as an excluding treatment)
- People who are unable or unwilling to complete the study assessments in English
- People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who are unwilling or unable to follow the study's requirements
