Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women between 20 and 45 years of age
- Women who have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) based on 2023 international guidelines
- People who are able to give their informed consent to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a known allergy or sensitivity to either metformin or NAC (N-acetylcysteine)
- People who have been taking medications that affect blood sugar — such as insulin or sulfonylureas — or hormonal medications within the two months before joining the trial
- People with high levels of a hormone called prolactin in their blood
- People who have been diagnosed with diabetes
- People with a thyroid condition causing abnormal thyroid hormone levels (TSH too high or too low)

- People who have been diagnosed with Cushing's syndrome
- People who have a tumour that produces male hormones (androgens)
- People who have been using spironolactone, other anti-androgen medications, or any hormone therapy for excess hair growth within three months before joining the trial
- People with severe, unstable heart failure
