Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are 55 years of age or older.
  • For the Alzheimer's disease group: People who have been clinically diagnosed with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease, confirmed by a memory and thinking test (called the MMSE, with a score between 10 and 26), as well as a brain scan (PET imaging) or a spinal fluid test (CSF).
  • For the control (comparison) group: People who have not been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or any other condition affecting the brain and nervous system over time.
  • People who are able to give their own written consent to participate. If there is any question about whether a person is mentally able to consent, an independent doctor or neurologist must first assess and confirm that they are capable before any study procedures begin.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with severe memory and thinking difficulties (an MMSE score below 10) that would make it too difficult to cooperate during the imaging process.
  • People who are unable to stay still during the eye imaging procedure (fundus imaging).
