Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 65 years old, of any gender.
- People who have been diagnosed with atopic dermatitis (eczema) according to a specific set of recognised medical diagnostic guidelines (the Hanifin & Rajka criteria).
- People whose eczema affects less than 10% of their body surface area, based on an assessment done at the screening visit.
- People whose eczema is rated as mild, moderate, or severe by the investigating doctor at the screening visit, using a standard severity scoring tool.
- Women of childbearing age who have a negative pregnancy test at the screening visit.
- Women of childbearing age who agree to use an approved form of contraception and agree not to breastfeed for the entire duration of the study.
- People who have been using only a stable dose of a simple, additive-free moisturiser for at least 7 days before the study start date.
- People who are willing to follow the study rules and sign a consent form agreeing to take part.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a history of an allergic reaction to herbal-based products or their inactive ingredients, such as those used in ointments.
- People who have undergone light therapy (such as UVB or PUVA) or systemic treatments (such as immune-suppressing medications) within the 30 days before joining.
- People who have used any topical or oral treatments for their eczema — such as steroid creams, antibiotics, or traditional Chinese medicine — within 7 days before the first application of the study treatment.
- People who have significant other health conditions, such as serious blood abnormalities, poorly controlled conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, gout, or overactive thyroid, as well as psychiatric illness, cancer, or AIDS.
- People whose liver or kidney function test results fall outside acceptable limits at screening.
- Women who are currently breastfeeding, pregnant, or planning to become pregnant.
