Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 years or older
- People receiving a specific type of internal radiation treatment called HDR brachytherapy (using a radioactive source called iridium-192), either on its own or combined with external radiation, for prostate cancer that has been confirmed by biopsy or imaging — including cancer that has come back in the same area
- People receiving the same type of internal radiation treatment for certain gynaecological cancers, including cervical, vulval, vaginal, or uterine (endometrial) cancer at various stages — including cases where the cancer has returned — as determined appropriate by a specialist medical team
- People with a general health and activity level rated as reasonably functional (rated 0, 1, or 2 on a standard medical scale, meaning able to carry out at least some daily activities)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had brachytherapy (internal radiation) to the same area of the body being treated
- People who are not able to give their informed consent to participate
- People who are not able to receive regional or general anaesthesia (numbing or sedating medication used during the procedure)
- People with certain medical conditions, including blood clotting disorders, a history of another separate cancer, a known allergy or sensitivity to any materials used in the study, or a history of or current abnormal connections between organs (fistulae)
- People who are not able to understand the study information in English
- People who have taken part in another interventional research study within the last 6 months, or who are currently participating in one
