Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 40 years old or older
- You are already a patient in the glaucoma department at one of the hospitals taking part in this study
- You need cataract surgery, confirmed by an eye exam showing your vision is 20/40 or worse
- You have been diagnosed with Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG), a specific type of glaucoma identified by certain changes to your vision and the appearance of your optic nerve
- The drainage angle in your eye meets certain measurements seen during a special eye examination called gonioscopy (confirm with trial site)
- Your eye pressure is 25 mmHg or below while using your current eye pressure-lowering drops
- Your eye pressure rises to between 22 and 30 mmHg when your eye drops are temporarily stopped, or your medical records show your eye pressure has been 21 mmHg or higher on more than one previous visit
Who may not be able to join:
- You have severe glaucoma, as measured by a specific medical grading system (confirm with trial site)
- The length of your eye is either larger than 26 mm or smaller than 21 mm
- The number of protective cells on the inner surface of your eye is below a certain level (confirm with trial site)
- The thickness of your cornea (the clear front part of your eye) falls outside an acceptable range (confirm with trial site)
- You have had, or are due to have, any other eye surgery or laser treatment around the time of this study
- You experience a serious unexpected problem during surgery while taking part in the study
- Your eye pressure remains very high even when using many different eye pressure-lowering medications, suggesting your glaucoma is progressing rapidly
