Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have a disability caused by their first ischemic (blocked blood vessel) or haemorrhagic (bleeding) stroke, confirmed by an MRI or CT scan
- People who are within 1 month of their stroke starting or being admitted to rehabilitation (or within 3 months for a related condition called vSBI)
- People who need to stay in a rehabilitation facility as an inpatient
- People who have signed a consent form agreeing to take part, either themselves or through a legal representative

- People who have had a subarachnoid haemorrhage (a type of bleed around the brain, rather than within it)
- People who have had cerebral venous thrombosis (a blood clot in the veins of the brain)
- People who have been previously diagnosed with another neurological (brain or nerve) or psychiatric (mental health) condition
- People who have an autoimmune disease (where the immune system attacks the body's own tissues)
- People who have had a serious long-term infection in the past, such as tuberculosis or HIV/AIDS
- People who have or have had cancer or another malignant (harmful tumour) condition
- People who are currently taking medications that affect the immune system, such as immunosuppressants
