Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People between 40 and 60 years of age
  • Both men and women are eligible
  • People who are able to walk for 6 minutes and complete a basic standing and walking test (called the Timed Up-and-Go test)
  • People who are able to get up from the floor
  • People who have been diagnosed with moderate osteoarthritis of the knee (Grade 2 or 3 based on X-ray results, using the Kellgren and Lawrence grading system)
  • People who have been experiencing knee pain rated above 6 out of 10 on a pain scale, lasting for more than 3 months

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have tuberculosis, cancer, heart disease, or osteoporosis
  • People who have had a recent injury or an active infection in the knee joint
  • People with joints that are unusually flexible beyond a normal range (confirm with trial site)
  • People who have open wounds or sores
  • People who are currently receiving radiotherapy, chemotherapy, steroid therapy, or blood-thinning medication
  • People with psychiatric conditions such as phobias, obsessive disorders, or depression
  • People who have an allergy to heat packs
  • People who have had surgery on the knee within the past year
  • People with severe difficulties in thinking, memory, or understanding
  • People for whom physical activity is medically not recommended
  • People who are currently taking part in another physical therapy program
