AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have had their first stroke (either a blocked blood vessel or a bleed in the brain) at least 6 months ago
  • People who still have ongoing movement difficulties in the arm affected by their stroke, within a specific range of ability as measured by a standard clinical test (called the Motricity Index, with scores between 18 and 77)
  • People who are willing to take part and have agreed to join the study by signing a consent form

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have severe muscle stiffness in the wrist and fingers of the affected arm, as measured by a standard clinical scale (called the Modified Ashworth Scale, with a score of 3 or higher)
  • People who have bone, joint, or rheumatic conditions, or problems with the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, that affect the arm involved in the stroke
  • People who have a condition that causes progressive damage to the nervous system or muscles (such as conditions affecting how muscles and nerves work over time)
  • People who have a serious illness affecting other parts of the body at the time of the trial
  • People who have severe difficulties with thinking, communication, or behaviour that would make it significantly hard to understand and take part in the trial activities
