Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 19 years of age or older at the time of agreeing to take part.
- People who are being assessed for, have decided to start, or have already started taking a newly approved Alzheimer's disease medication approved after 2021, in consultation with their doctor.
- People who have had a special brain scan (amyloid PET scan) or a spinal fluid test to confirm the presence of Alzheimer's-related changes in the brain.
- People who have received a clinical diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease dementia, meaning their memory and thinking problems affect their ability to live independently, meeting recognised diagnostic standards (NIA-AA criteria).
- People diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), meaning they or someone who knows them has noticed memory or thinking changes, their memory or other thinking skills score below expected levels for their age and education, they score 0.5 on a standard dementia rating scale, and they are still able to manage daily activities independently.
- People classified as Cognitively Unimpaired, meaning their memory and thinking test scores are within the expected range for their age and education, and they can manage daily activities independently (those who report noticing memory changes may be classified as having Subjective Cognitive Decline).
- People who are able to walk or move around, including with the help of a mobility aid such as a cane or walker.
- People who are able to provide written consent to participate; for people with dementia, written consent from a guardian is also required.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a significant psychiatric condition such as schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, delirium, or an intellectual disability.
- People who have had a substance use or alcohol dependence problem that required treatment within the past five years.
- People currently diagnosed with cancer that has not been in remission for at least five years (certain limited cancers such as localised prostate cancer, cervical carcinoma in situ, and some types of skin cancer may not apply — confirm with trial site).
- People with serious or unstable physical health conditions, such as being on dialysis or having severe liver disease.
- People whose vision or hearing difficulties would prevent reliable cognitive testing.
- People who are unable to have an MRI scan due to metal objects in their body.
- People who are currently taking part in another clinical drug trial.
- People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
