Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You need to be scheduled for a first-time knee arthroscopy (a minor surgical procedure using a small camera) to treat a meniscal (cartilage cushion) injury or a small area of cartilage damage, specifically a cleaning-out or trimming procedure
  • Your knee shows no signs of arthritis, based on imaging results
  • The cartilage damage in your knee is mild or minimal, based on a standard grading scale
  • You are between 18 and 64 years old

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have had previous surgery on the same knee
  • Your knee shows moderate to severe arthritis on imaging
  • You have received biological joint treatments (such as platelet-rich plasma or stem cell injections) within the last 3 months before surgery
  • You have ligament damage or instability in the knee
  • Your procedure would require repairing (rather than trimming) the meniscus
  • You need additional bone-realignment surgery at the same time
  • You have taken certain medications used to treat autoimmune or inflammatory conditions (called DMARDs) within the last 3 months
  • You have a history of anemia, bleeding disorders, or inflammatory joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis or similar conditions
