Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are between 30 and 75 years old
- People who have had ongoing knee pain for at least 6 months
- People whose X-rays show moderate to severe osteoarthritis (Grade 3 or 4 on a standard medical scale) with significant narrowing of the space inside the knee joint
- People whose knee pain scores above 40 out of 100 on a pain scale when doing one of the two most painful movements, such as sitting down and standing up, or going up and down stairs
- People whose pain reduced by at least 50% after a specific diagnostic nerve-blocking injection to the knee (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a whole-body inflammatory disease such as rheumatoid arthritis
- People who have had a radiofrequency nerve treatment to the knee, or a hyaluronic acid or steroid injection into the knee, within the past 3 months
- People who have had any previous knee surgery
- People who have significant knee problems other than osteoarthritis that may be causing their chronic knee pain
- People who have had physical therapy for their knee in the last 6 months, or who have a history of knee injury
- People who are currently receiving other pain treatments
- People whose Body Mass Index (a measure of body weight relative to height) is below 18 or above 40
- People who are pregnant
- People who have a serious uncontrolled illness (such as cancer or diabetes), an active infection, a psychiatric disorder, or a condition that affects blood clotting
