Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are between 45 and 75 years old (inclusive)
- People who have been diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis based on standard medical criteria, which includes knee pain along with at least 3 of the following: being over 50 years old, morning stiffness lasting less than 30 minutes, a crackling or grinding sensation in the knee, tenderness in the bony areas of the knee, bony enlargement around the knee, or no noticeable warmth when the knee is touched
- People whose knee X-rays show a moderate level of osteoarthritis, rated as grade II or III on a standard medical scale (called the Kellgren-Lawrence scale)
- People who have experienced an average knee pain level of at least 4 out of 10 during weight-bearing activities (such as standing or walking) over the past week
- People who are willing and able to attend 3 sessions per week for 4 weeks, as well as all required assessment appointments
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had surgery on the affected knee, including keyhole (arthroscopic) surgery within the last year, or a knee replacement at any time
- People who have been diagnosed with an inflammatory type of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, or gout
- People who have had a steroid or joint-lubricating injection directly into the affected knee within the last 3 months
- People who have serious ongoing health conditions that could interfere with taking part or with measuring results, such as severe uncontrolled heart disease, severe lung disease, or significant nerve problems affecting the leg
- People who have a skin condition (such as an infection, open wound, eczema, or a sensitivity to light) in the area of the knee where the laser treatment would be applied
- People who are currently taking blood-thinning medications (such as warfarin or similar drugs), unless their dose is stable and a doctor has confirmed it is safe for them to participate (confirm with trial site)
- People who have had cancer in the knee treatment area, or who currently have an active cancer anywhere in the body
- People who are known to be sensitive to light, or who are taking medications that increase sensitivity to light
- People who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or currently breastfeeding
- People who have taken part in another interventional clinical trial within the last 30 days
- People who are unable to understand or communicate in the language used in the study
