  • People aged 18 or older
  • People who have been diagnosed with their first ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke on one side of the body, at least two weeks ago
  • People who have some movement in at least one arm muscle, but not full strength (a score between 1 and 4 on a standard muscle strength scale)

  • People with severe muscle stiffness in the affected limb (scoring above 3 on the Ashworth scale)
  • People with skin problems at the area where the device would be placed on the body
  • People who have an implanted electronic device (such as a pacemaker)
  • People with epilepsy that is not well controlled with medication
  • People with severe nerve damage in the limbs (severe peripheral neuropathy)
  • People who have recently had a surgical procedure (confirm with trial site for timeframe)
  • People with blood clots or inflammation of the veins (thrombosis or thrombophlebitis)
  • People who have had a stent placed within the last six months
  • People with severe hardening or narrowing of the arteries, or severe circulation problems
  • People with untreated high blood pressure
  • People with heart rhythm problems (cardiac arrhythmias)
  • People with bleeding disorders such as haemophilia

  • People with a known allergy to the materials that make up the device or its parts

  • People with back pain that has not been diagnosed
