Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are between 55 and 75 years old (male or female)
- People who are generally in good health, with no conditions likely to affect the study results
- People whose resting heart rate is between 60 and 90 beats per minute with a normal heart rhythm
- People whose resting breathing rate is fewer than 14 breaths per minute
- People whose resting blood pressure falls within a specific range: diastolic (lower number) between 60 and 90, and systolic (upper number) between 110 and 140

- People who have enough mental clarity to understand and sign the consent form before any screening begins
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a body mass index (a measure of body weight relative to height) above 30
- People who have had flu-like symptoms or a respiratory infection within the 2 weeks before screening
- People who currently have active COVID-19
- Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the study
- People with a significant ongoing illness that is not stable and well-managed, in the opinion of the study doctor
- People with a history of a slow heart rate, irregular heart rhythms, or who take beta-blocker medications (a type of heart or blood pressure medication)
- People with heart or lung conditions, including pulmonary fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), reduced lung function, lung injury, high blood pressure in the lungs, or sleep apnoea requiring a CPAP breathing machine
- People with bowel obstruction, air in the skull cavity, or any condition where trapped air pockets could become a problem during the study treatment (confirm with trial site)
- People with any condition or who take medications that slow down the stomach's ability to empty food (confirm with trial site)
- People who have a known difficult airway, or where an anaesthesiologist's examination suggests airway management could be difficult
- People with inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, asthma, thyroid disease, or type 1 diabetes
- People who have used corticosteroid medications (a type of anti-inflammatory drug) within the month before the first treatment
- People with a history of cancer in the past 5 years, except for successfully treated basal cell skin cancer
- People with any other significant medical condition or abnormal test results that the study investigator believes would interfere with participation
- People with a history of alcohol or substance misuse or dependence within the past 2 years
- People with significantly abnormal results on screening blood or laboratory tests
