Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have signed and dated a written consent form before any study procedures begin
- People aged 16 or older with active Crohn's disease, shown by elevated inflammation markers in blood or stool, visible ulcers on a colonoscopy, or active disease seen on medical imaging, who are switching to a new type of treatment (either anti-TNF therapy, ustekinumab, or upadacitinib)
- People aged 16 or older with active ulcerative colitis, shown by elevated inflammation markers in blood or stool, or findings on a colonoscopy, who are switching to a new type of treatment (either anti-TNF therapy or vedolizumab)
- People who do not have IBD but are attending a participating site for a lower bowel colonoscopy, and whose examination shows no abnormalities
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to give informed consent
- People who have previously tested positive for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, or HIV
- People who currently have an infection that requires treatment
- People with signs of an active COVID-19 infection at the time of joining
- People who have taken part in a clinical trial involving a medication within the 3 months before the baseline visit
- People who currently have a diagnosis of cancer
- People who have had a solid organ or stem cell transplant
- People who have received a blood, plasma, or platelet transfusion within 120 days before enrolment
- People who are confirmed to be pregnant at the time of enrolment
- People without IBD who have a previous history of IBD, including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, microscopic colitis, indeterminate colitis, or unspecified IBD
- People whom the trial investigator determines should not participate, based on clinical judgement
- People under 16 years of age
