Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with COPD (a chronic lung condition) according to the 2024 GOLD guidelines.
- People whose lung function test results show an FEV1/FVC ratio below 60% (a specific measurement of how well air flows out of the lungs).
- People with stable COPD who either score 10 or higher on the CAT symptom questionnaire or 2 or higher on the mMRC breathlessness scale, OR who have had 2 or more moderate flare-ups, or at least 1 hospital stay due to COPD, in the past 12 months.
- People who are currently using one of the following regular COPD inhalers: Breztri Aerosphere, Trelegy Ellipta, or Anoro Ellipta.
- People who are willing to take part and sign a consent form — or, if unable to sign due to incapacity, whose legal guardian is able to sign on their behalf.
Who may not be able to join:
- People with unstable angina (a type of chest pain) or a serious irregular heartbeat.
- People experiencing severe fatigue linked to conditions such as advanced heart failure or the effects of chemotherapy.
- People with an unstable mental health condition that involves a risk of harm to themselves or others.
- People with severe cognitive impairment (serious difficulties with thinking or memory) or a progressive neuromuscular disease.
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- People whose life expectancy is estimated to be less than 6 months.
- People who are unable to cooperate with lung function testing.
- People who would be unable to complete all follow-up appointments for the full duration of the trial.
- People from vulnerable groups (other than older adults), including those with mental illness, cognitive impairment, critical illness, or those who are unable to read.
